Star Tattoo Designs

When individuals are searching for images to incorporate into their tattoos, many choose to add the image of a star into their design. The star symbol has been around for thousands of years and has had a different meaning for different individuals throughout history. As both a primary design and a background element, the star symbol is one of the most used symbols when it comes to inclusion into a tattoo.

There are many different versions of the star that may be incorporated into a tattoo design. The most popular is the five-point design, also known as a pentagram. This type of star design has five points, each of which extends a certain distance from the mid-point of the design. In some versions of the design, all of the lines used to create the star shape are visible, creating the appearance that the star was created from a single line.

The five-pointed star has had both positive and negative connotations throughout history. In some cultures, the five-pointed star was associated with witchcraft and evil spirits and shunned as an unacceptable symbol. Many religions have used the star as a religious symbol, although the shape of the star may be slightly modified to dispel any bad feelings associated with the star.

Many individuals of the Jewish faith use a six-pointed star as one of the symbols of their faith. Also known as the Star of David, the star adorns numerous items associated with the Jewish faith and some of their religious institutions as well. This star design has been in use since the middle ages and, when used as a design for a tattoo, the six-pointed star can be used to demonstrate deep religious faith.

Star symbols have been used in conjunction with Christian themed tattoos as well. Many images of angels, crosses, and celestial events include images of stars somewhere in the design and, in some cases, the star is the focus of the tattoo design. Whether the star is of the five-pointed variety or has numerous points depends on the overall design of the tattoo.

Star symbols can also be used to symbolize magic and mystery when used in a tattoo designs. Whether used in combination with a wizard, a fairy, or as a stand alone image, the star symbol easily brings to mind the wonder associated with magic in general. Many individuals so closely associate stars with magic that they could not imagine a magical scene without stars being included in it.

For individuals that just enjoy the shape of the star symbol, there are many armband style tattoo designs that use the star as the focal point of the design. The band of the design is typically comprised of intertwined vines, decorative lines, or smaller stars. The color of the star can be customized to fit the individual’s preference so that the design is more specific to their personality. No matter what type of star design is chosen for the tattoo, there will be multiple ways to customize the design and make it a tattoo that you love.
